I often receive emails from info @ mywebsite.com or sales @ mywebsite.com or admin @ mywebsite.com and unless I know the owner of mywebsite.com I am a little weary. One thing that I suggest to all my clients is to add an Email Account Name so that when an email is sent it has your name and business name, or at least your business name.

Whether you’re using Windows Mail, Mac Mail, Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo or Entourage, the steps are very similar.

PC Users

To change your email account name:

1. Ensure you are in your email program (Mail or Outlook)
2. Click on the Tools or File menu
3. Click on the Accounts or Account Settings option
4. Click on your email account
5. Click on the Properties button or Change button
6. In the User Information, Names box, change the details
7. Click on the OK button or the Next button
8. Click on the Close button or the Finish button, then the Close button

Mac Users

To change your email account name:

1. Ensure you are in your email program (Entourage or Mac Mail)
2. Click on the Tools menu or Mail menu, then Preferences
3. Click on the Account Settings tab or Accounts icon
4. Click on your email account
5. Click on the Edit button (not the Edit menu)
6. In the Personal Information, Name box, or Full Name, change the details
7. Click on the OK button

Google Mail or Gmail Users

To change your email account name:

1. Ensure you are in your email program (Google Mail or Gmail)
2. Click on the Settings icon (looks like a cog or wheel)
3. Click on the Settings option
4. Click on the tab, Accounts
5. At the relevant ‘Send Email As‘ option, click on the link ‘Edit Info‘
6. In the Name box, add new details
7. Click on the Save Changes button
